On closer inspection, there was a small green tree snake, taking a short cut across the gate .
These shy little snakes are non-venomous, and hunt for frogs and skinks.
Just after I took the photo, it skedaddled off into the hedge......

I got the shivers just looking at it. We had one on the roof of the girls cubby house once, it had tried to eat a frog. The frog was rescued and required lots of love from the girls to get better;) It is nice to have nature close by though.
